NEW DELHI, India – India on Wednesday (September 12th) condemned the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi that killed four officials, including the American Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens, local media reported.
Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai spoke to US Ambassador to India Nancy Powell and conveyed India's condolences.
Stevens and three of his staff were killed as an armed mob, apparently incensed over an independently-produced film that is critical of Islam, attacked the consulate Tuesday night.
In response to the violence in Libya as well as Egypt, the United States has tightened security at its diplomatic posts around the world. Protestors still managed to storm the embassy in Sanaa, Yemen on Thursday, torching vehicles, before being pushed back.
